Ndengera CBC Polyclinic opened in 2010 as a single consultation room run by the Ndengera Foundation. It is now a licensed polyclinic with ten departments, an inpatient ward, an operating theatre and a 24-hour emergency and maternity service, serving Rubavu District and the surrounding sectors of the Western Province.

How the polyclinic was established
From a single room to a complete polyclinic for Rubavu
The need — 2010
Families around Rubavu faced long, often costly journeys for routine diagnostic tests, fever triage, and safe deliveries. A birth complication or a bout of malaria could mean hours of travel before anyone was seen.
The response
Rev. Ndengera and local leaders opened the first consultation room to provide immediate outpatient treatment and attended delivery within the district, rather than after a journey.
The expansion
That single room grew methodically: an accredited diagnostic laboratory, dedicated 24/7 labour suites, ultrasound imaging, and a regulated pharmacy — each added as the need for it became undeniable, never ahead of the community's trust.

The Ndengera Foundation opens the first outpatient consultation room in Rubavu.
2014
Maternity & labour ward commissioned
A dedicated 24/7 maternity wing opens, ending the need to travel for a safe delivery.
2018
Laboratory modernization
Automated hematology, biochemistry, and microbiology analyzers integrated into the diagnostic lab.
2021
Women's health program launched
Specialised cervical cancer screening begins, using visual inspection (VIA) and on-site cryotherapy.
2024 – 2026
Outpatient expansion
Consultation wings expanded and electronic patient scheduling introduced across departments.
Clinical governance
How medical quality is maintained
Clinical quality is maintained through documented procedures: practitioner licensing checks, equipment calibration records, internal laboratory quality control and cold chain monitoring.
Certified practitioners
All physicians, midwives, and paramedical staff are licensed with the Rwanda Medical and Dental Council or the National Council of Nurses and Midwives.
Diagnostic precision
Regular equipment calibration, internal laboratory quality controls (IQC), and temperature-controlled cold chains for vaccines and medicines.
